Reuse analyses with Foundation FMEA
Search completed FMEAs and reuse them as a new document or inside your canvas.
Chapters · 1:53
Foundation FMEA in the library collects completed FMEA documents as references. You can search them, copy a whole document, or bring individual elements into the analysis you are working on.
Register a document as a foundation
- 1Open the project and right-click the finished FMEA document in the document list.
- 2Choose Register as Foundation. A message confirms the registration.
- 3The document now appears in Foundation FMEA in the library, ready to search, copy, and import from.
Registration saves the document as it is at that moment. Changes you make later are not reflected until you register the same document again, which replaces the earlier registration.
Search the foundations
Open the library on the left and choose Foundation FMEA. Enter a keyword in the search box. The results show not only the structure, function, and failure, but also the prevention and detection controls applied, the scores, and the improvement actions.
Open or copy a whole document
- Click the document name to open the original read-only. You can move between the steps and review the whole analysis, but you cannot change it.
- Click Copy to my project and pick a project. The document is copied as a new FMEA and opens right away, ready to edit like your own.
Bring elements into your canvas
- 1On the canvas you are editing, right-click the element at the target location and choose Import from library.
- 2Search the foundations in the window that opens and click a result.
- 3The element comes in on the same level, together with its functions and failures.
- 4A red dashed outline means it is not linked to a higher-level element yet. Select both and press Space to connect them.
